Mentorship with Mirka

Are you looking for feedback on your illustration, book manuscript or portfolio?

I’m a well rounded picture book author and illustrator, who has worked on 9 traditionally illustrated books. I can help you troubleshoot weak points in your portfolio or dummy, help with writing, and give you next steps to bring your work up to the next level. Or are you trying to figure out Procreate or Photoshop and need a bit of personalized technical help? I’m here for that too.

Sessions run from affordable 15min - Ask Me Anything sessions to 1h deep dives into illustrating and writing. Longer 4-month mentorships also available (see next section).

If you’ve been feeling stuck, I can guide you forwards on your journey. I’ve always loved teaching and sharing my knowledge, and look forwards to connecting with you.

NEW! I’ve opened a Superpeer account to easily schedule sessions. See session descriptions there.

Personal one-on-one mentoring/critiques for illustrators or author-illustrators

I’ve added several one-on-one mentoring sessions to my Superpeer site. You do not have to have a membership to book a session there. If you are interested in a longer term mentorship, see current offerings below. Space is limited, contact me for availability.

PB Rising Stars Mentorship

I’m participating in the PB Rising Stars mentor program this year. Applications are open now till April 4th.

The PB Rising Stars program is a 3 month mentorship over the summer of 2024. It’s free, and this year there are 32 mentors that you can apply to.

I’m currently a mentor for the SCBWI MD/DE/WV chapter for an author-illustrator cohort between January-July 2024.

“This 6-month mentorship program, available only to SCBWI Premium Members, will connect you with a published mentor author or illustrator who will provide detailed written feedback on your work each month, for a total of 6 critiques. It’s up to you whether you want to submit new work each month, or revise your work and resubmit for another pass. Illustrators will also have the option to follow targeted illustration prompts. Each cohort will be capped at 3-6 participants.”
