Learn to Draw a Black Cat
Follow along for a fun tutorial for a sitting cat! The video below includes a quick 1min tutorial. Download a free PDF with the drawing steps from my free resources page HERE or at the bottom of the page.
Did you know…
That cats have exactly 24 whiskers. 12 on either side of their face. Cats whiskers are connected to that same part in their brains as their eyes are, they can move them forwards and back to sense the world around them which comes in handy when they hunt to feel their prey.
Step-by-Step Tutorial
1
Start with a sideways oval.
2
Add two upside down V-shapes for ears at the top of the head and two curves going down for the body and front legs.
3
Add 2 smaller V-shapes inside the ears and a small oval for the nose. Add two lines for the front feet.
4
Add eyes next to the nose and two more curved lines for the back legs from the middle of the body.
5
Add pupils inside the eyes, and connect the bottom of the body with a line.
6
Add a mouth and a curved line for the tail.
7
Add whiskers to the sides of the head, and eyebrows if you want. You can find some other ideas for fun expressions below.
8
Add some color. You can either color your cat black, or then make it any other color you want.
Congratulations! You drew an adorable cat! Here are some other expressions you can give it.
