Learn to Draw a Cute Bat

Follow along for a fun tutorial for a flying bat! The video below includes a quick 1min tutorial. Download a free PDF with the drawing steps from my free resources page HERE or at the bottom of the page.

Did you know…

That insect eating bats can eat 1,200 mosquitoes in an hour. From dusk till dawn, they fly around munching on insects and can eat their whole body weight worth in one night. That’s a great friend to have around!

Step-by-Step Tutorial

1

Start with a sideways oval.

2

Add two curves going out for the wings, and two lines from the top for ears.

3

Add 2 curved lines to the ear lines to make ears, and two lines from the sides of the oval for the body.

4

Add scalloped lines for the bottom of the wings.

5

Add lines inside the ears and inside the wings. Add a small triangle or oval in the lower part of the head for a nose.

6

Add a U-shaped line upside down for the legs. Add an upside down V-shape to edge of wing and another line to make another V-shape inside wings.

7

Add ovals for eyes, and two curved lines for the mouth. Add some small hairs for the top of the head. Add little thumbs to the top of the wings, and one more upside down V-shape in the middle of the other V-shapes so that the lines are close to each other.

8

Add some fur and eyes and little toes to the bottoms of the feet. You can also add a small little tail poking out from one side. Add two little teeth in the mouth. Color as you please.

Congratulations! You drew an adorable bat! Here are some other expressions you can give them.
